Okeechobee CI Release Routes
Okeechobee Correctional Institution is an FDC state prison, not an Okeechobee County Jail unit. People there serve state sentences. A permanent departure can occur at sentence expiration or through a lawful release to probation, community control, conditional release, or parole for the limited population that remains eligible. Death and other exceptional events may also close the institutional stay. A transfer to another FDC institution only changes location and does not end state custody.
Read the current status, inmate release information, and community-supervision information together. A past prison release date can coexist with active supervision. “Discharge” usually means the later end of a custody or supervision obligation described by that record. It should not be used as a synonym for every prison gate release.
Confirm Okeechobee CI Release
Use the FDC Corrections Offender Network. It includes current and prior FDC prison and supervision data, but it does not cover people sentenced only to county jail or county probation. Search by the six-character DC number when possible. Name fields use prefixes, and an alias option can widen the search.
- Enter the exact DC number, or use first- and last-name prefixes with aliases when needed.
- Open the matching record and verify the photograph, physical description, offense data, and DC number.
- Read current status and location. A new prison location signals transfer, not release.
- Open inmate release information and note whether the date is past or future.
- Review community-supervision information separately. Active supervision means prison custody ended but FDC authority continues.
A future FDC Release Date is a tentative calculation for a term-of-years sentence. It can change after sentence amendments, gain-time awards or forfeitures, jail credit, detainers, consecutive terms, or recalculation under law. For same-day confirmation, contact the institution or FDC release staff. For a certified history, request the record from FDC.
Okeechobee CI Release Contacts
The institution can address current facility information, while centralized FDC offices handle offender data and public records. Give the person's name, DC number, institution, and relevant date range. Ask for the inmate release record and, when needed, the state correctional photograph. FDC reviews records under Chapters 119 and 945.10 and may redact confidential or exempt material.

Okeechobee CI Prison Facts
FDC's current institution page lists Okeechobee CI as established in 1995 with an official capacity of 1,632. The prison offers pre-release counseling and a re-entry dorm. Those programs may help prepare a person for the next stage, but program participation is not proof that release occurred or that a date is fixed.
The official Okeechobee CI profile appears in the captured image below.

The image supports current facility facts and contact details. Release status still comes from the person's FDC record, not the institution profile.
Okeechobee CI Search Fields
Identity comes first because a name prefix can return several people. The DC number is either six digits or one letter followed by five digits. Photographs, physical descriptions, offense dates, and sentence data help separate similar names. The key result fields serve different purposes.
| FDC item | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Current status | Shows the present FDC custody or supervision classification. |
| Current location | Names the institution or office tied to the current status. |
| Inmate release information | Shows the prison-release event or a tentative future date. |
| Supervision information | Shows whether FDC supervision continues after prison. |
| Offense and sentence | Helps confirm identity and explains the sentence framework. |
FDC warns that location, status, and release data can change quickly. A public result is useful for verification, but the agency record controls when exact timing or a certified history is required. Florida VINE can add a movement alert, yet it is not the certified release transaction.
Okeechobee CI Release History
Older PREA material described a Main Unit, Work Camp, and Sago Palm Re-Entry Center configuration. The current FDC directory centers one Okeechobee Correctional Institution identity. That difference is local context, not a reason to create three current facility records. Use the current directory unless FDC separately confirms a component now.
The county also contains the separate sheriff jail. Its 344-bed local operation and the 1,632-capacity state prison serve different populations. A county-jail booking record does not become an FDC prison record unless the person enters FDC jurisdiction. The Okeechobee released-inmate search helps route uncertain cases between those systems.
Note: A pre-release program or re-entry dorm assignment indicates preparation, not a completed Okeechobee CI release.
Okeechobee CI Release Proof
For a full record, ask FDC for existing release documentation tied to the name, DC number, Okeechobee CI, and the date range. State medical and education records have separate confidentiality and authorization rules and are outside a routine release-record request. If parole action applies, the Florida Commission on Offender Review is a separate source for its final order and vote.
A prison release record should not be stretched beyond its scope. It does not prove that all supervision ended, that another hold was cleared, or that a county case disappeared. Read each agency's record for the event it controlled.
Okeechobee CI Supervision Release
FDC Community Corrections supervises adults on probation, community control, parole, conditional release, and conditional medical release. Probation is imposed by a court. Parole is an FCOR decision available only to a limited population under Florida's offense-date rules. Calling every release “parole” is inaccurate.
Search the FDC Supervised Population database with the same DC number used for the prison record. Active status means confinement ended but supervision continues. A terminated entry may mark the end of that supervision record, yet the displayed details should be read before describing final discharge. Office 193 in Okeechobee can confirm the current reporting office after the identity match.
Okeechobee CI Release Date Changes
FDC calls the public value a Release Date. For a term-of-years prisoner with a future date, Florida law treats the gain-time projection as a tentative release date. It begins with the sentence and lawful custody credit, then reflects eligible gain time, restoration, forfeiture, mandatory minimums, and sentence structure. A corrected judgment, newly applied jail credit, an added or consecutive sentence, or another agency action can change the result.
Florida's post-October 1, 1995 incentive-gain-time rules do not permit gain time to move release before service of at least 85 percent of the sentence. That floor is not a promised 15-percent cut. Some prisoners are ineligible, lose time, or face a requirement to serve more. Okeechobee CI staff do not publish a local calculator that can replace FDC's central computation.
When a date affects a pickup plan, travel, or court filing, ask Admission and Release to confirm the current state calculation. Florida VINE may add a movement notice, but the FDC record remains the source for the prison release event. A transfer alert must still be separated from a community release.
Two Okeechobee Release Systems
Okeechobee County contains both a sheriff jail and this state prison. The jail has 344 beds and handles local booking, pretrial detention, and county custody. Okeechobee CI has an official capacity of 1,632 and holds people serving FDC sentences from across Florida. The shared county name does not join their records.
If a search starts with an Okeechobee arrest, the court case and OCSO release record may be the correct sources. If the person later entered FDC custody, the DC number and state record take over for that prison event. Keeping the two operators in view prevents a local bond release from being mistaken for an FDC discharge.
